Dr. Zain Shamoon is a dedicated advocate for mental health wellness and community engagement. As the Director of Community Building and Engagement at Lovewell Initiatives, Dr. Shamoon is dedicated to fostering inclusive and supportive environments where mental health professionals and community members can connect, learn, and grow together. His work emphasizes the importance of community and the transformative power of shared stories.

About
Dr. Shamoon
He received his doctorate degree in Human Development and Family Studies, as well as his master's degree in Couple and Family Therapy from Michigan State University. With 6 years of experience as a faculty member at a COAMFTE-accredited graduate program, Dr. Shamoon brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Lovewell Initiatives.
Dr. Shamoonā€™s research focused on domestic violence in South Asian communities and how survivorsā€™ personal stories help address service needs. His commitment to creating spaces where individuals can share their personal narratives is central to his work. He believes that storytelling is a powerful tool for healing and community building, which is reflected in his practice and initiatives.
Currently, Dr. Shamoon practices family therapy at Northwest Relationships. He is also the host and founder of the Narratives of Pain storytelling showcase, a platform that allows individuals to share their journeys towards mental health wellness. His innovative approach has earned him recognition within the professional community.
In 2019 and 2021, Dr. Shamoon received the Washington Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (WAMFT) Educator of the Year award, acknowledging his significant contributions to the advancement of the CFT field and his mentorship of CFT students.
